Entitled: an exhibition of work by women artists
Entitled is part of Art within the Cracks of Women’s Lives, a project which explores how women find the time and space for creative practice.
Women’s voices are central to the show. We reveal what we create when we find the time, be it in between loading the washing machine, dragging our kids through school, doing our paid work, cleaning our houses, caring for ageing parents or waiting until we find peace in retirement.
We discuss inequality in the world today and consider the changes during the past hundred years since we gained suffrage.
We consider how we are represented and how we are affected by the roles we are given that we know we didn’t ask for.
We look back at the creative work of past women and invite people to discover and share stories of lives and work we might not have heard of.
The show includes painting, prints, drawings, poems, films, magazines, archives, music and sound.
