Video documentation is a key part of my work and I have been making short films since 1990, originally capturing sculptural performances using analogue video and progressing to 8mm & 16mm. Embracing affordable digital video I set up Little Fish Films in 1998 with a mission to make moving image affordable for artists and community groups.
I try to add video elements to my creative projects. Below are some recent examples.
The Wild is Here is a film I made as part of a project commissioned by St Anne’s House to use arts within the BS4 community to help catalyse elements of the BS4 Community Climate Action Plan.
For Place Portrait Spike Island 2023 we made short films representing different local characters and their feelings about the environmental and social aspects of the neighbourhood.
2019 PRESENTE
An art/documentary film, made for Inhabited Spaces, a group show in The Island Gallery in Bristol, curated by Maria Jose Carvalho and Amalia Pascal. I use archive footage and contemporary interviews to describe how people (in this case people close to me) migrate and integrate into communities and how those neighbourhoods change.
I also support younger filmmakers and students. Here is a supercut of films made with Screenology students in 2023 about the future of St Philips Marsh in Bristol.
